Laura Fitzmaurice - Company Director

Since the age of 14 I have had the passion to work with children I have had various roles involving children aged from new born to 16 years such as; gymnastics coach, nurseries, Camp America, crèches and private nannying I could go on.
I came to Val d'Isere in winter 2011 and fell in love with the resort and the rest is history!
I spend my summers in Italy running an English camp for Italian children, I just cant have a break !!! I LOVE IT ........
After obtaining several qualifications throughout my teens and twenties (too many!) including my level 3 in childcare, I attended university to study Early Years Childhood Studies before doing my fourth summer season this time with Mark Warner. I then knew I wasn't returning to the UK.
I quickly caught the seasonaire bug at 26 and met my partner Massimo (Max) here in Val D'isere who is a ski instructor for Oxygene ski school and has a restaurant in the summer (he is also the office helper throughout the year) ....

Little chicks is my passion and what I have always wanted in life! I work on this company 365 days a year and since I opened the company in July 2013 I have never looked back!

Jess- Half term nanny

I’m 23 years old and from a small hamlet in Somerset in the South West of England. My interest in working with children began from the early age of 16 when I spent my summer holidays teaching young/beginner riders at my local riding stables. From here, I was offered a work experience placement at a private school for children with autism, where I assisted staff within the occupational therapy team to deliver horse riding lessons to the children. Whilst at the school, I was able to develop an understanding of how different methods and approaches are used to help children with ASD engage with learning. This experience shaped my choice in my personal growth as I went on to graduate with a BA (hons) in Educational Studies with Psychology. During and subsequent to my university years I have relished all relevant experiences in childcare, from working as a classroom assistant in nurseries and primary schools, to spending a summer in America as a camp counsellor and two summers at Clifton College Summer Language School! For the past two Easters holidays I have successfully nannied for Little Chicks Childcare in Val D’isere. My love for the snow makes me a great hit with the children, and with my boundless energy and endless enthusiasm you can always expect to find me on the move with my charges. My favourite activates whilst in the Apls include; snowball fights, bubble rides to spot the parents skiing, snowman building and sledging! At home I work within the education sector and I am currently working towards my PGCE at a co-ed preparatory school in Bath, Somerset. With my love for the snow and working with children I simply cannot be kept away so this year I will be spending my school vacations working in Alps! I look forwarding to seeing you at Christmas, February and Easter!
This year I have spent my summer in Italy, at Camp Marmot in Sappada. With my boundless amounts of energy and enthusiasm you can always expect to find me deep in exciting activities with the children!

Lulu - Val d'Isere - Nanny

Hi, I’m Lulu, I’m 20 and from North Yorkshire. Last Easter I spent 3 weeks as a Little Chick’s nanny in Val d’Isere and loved it so much I’m back for the full season! I’ve worked with children for the last 4 years, I currently work in a nursery in a small village, looking after children aged 0-5 years. I’m also currently working towards my level 3 award in childcare and education. I spent the last year training to be a children’s nurse meaning I’ve worked with children from tiny premature babies right the way up to 17-year olds. My 650 hours of hospital placements means I have also looked after children with a wide range of health problems and special needs. I’ve done private nannying for different families each summer holidays since 2014, and I’ve also spent a year volunteering at my local gymnastics club with children aged 4-11. My favourite activities in Val d’Isere are sledging and snow painting – I’ll also take any opportunity to jump into the swimming pool! I’m so excited to be spending the full season out in the Alps – see you there!

I am a graduate of The Chiltern College, one of the top two UK childcare colleges, and I have been fortunate for the opportunities that my training has given me.
I really look forward to meeting all you lovely families in Resort!

Helene - Half term nanny

£0
Hello I’m Helene, I’m 21 and have been working part-time as a nanny since I was 17. I started working for some family friends and looking after their children after school when I was completing my A Levels. They then asked me to continue and become their full-time live-in nanny when I was taking a gap year at the age of 18. I did this for six months before spending six months working for a charity in Kenya called L’Arche. In this job, I was taking care of and offering occupational therapy to adults with learning disabilities. Through both of these jobs I developed my passion for caring for others. I then went to University in Bath to study Education Studies; I am currently in my third year and hope to become a Primary School Teacher and specialise in teaching children with additional needs. Working for Little Chicks is great for me as I can do it alongside my studies. Last year I went to Val D’Isère during my Easter Holidays and enjoyed it so much I knew I wanted to do more of it, so I am really looking forward to working with them more in the future!
